Andrei Chesnokov was a professional tennis player from the Soviet Union who was known for his aggressive style of play and strong baseline game. He was born on February 1, 1966, in Moscow, Russia.
Chesnokov turned professional in 1986 and enjoyed much success throughout his career. He won 13 singles titles and 2 doubles titles during his time on the ATP Tour, with his best year coming in 1990 when he reached the semifinals of the French Open and the US Open.
Chesnokov was known for being a fiery competitor on the court and was often seen pumping his fists and yelling after winning points. He was also known for his distinctive backhand, which he hit with a lot of topspin and often ran around his forehand to hit.
Chesnokov retired from professional tennis in 1999 and has since become involved in coaching and television commentary. He was also inducted into the Russian Tennis Hall of Fame in 2007.
